from Saratoga Springs, New York designed the SkyFall Residence on six acres of this upstate New York horse country property to celebrate the slowing rolling hills, views of the Adirondack Mountains and sunsets. Their task was to blend traditional New England architecture with modern elements and open living. At the same time, the owners set out to design something that was built within the context of the property and not intrude on the natural surroundings. [Builder: Witt Construction]
A neutral palette of muted gray and beige tones is accented by sophisticated furnishings. Warm wood, contemporary decor and a variety of modern chandeliers can be found throughout the interiors.
The homeowners had an aggressive timeframe and chose to work with a Bethesda, MD-based design/build firm Case Design/Remodeling, Inc., which also has an office in Falls Church, VA. Much of the project had to be completed via virtual meetings with the homeowners and Case. They began sharing designs via video chats with one quick in-person visit to confirm finishes.
Though they are a massive influence on the public’s persuasion of what is in and what is out, Ikea aside, natural is growing fast in 2014. Look for natural wood or stone counter tops, natural walls (possible brick veneer), natural wooden cupboards. Anything that comes from the earth is good
