Iron support beams mark the entry into the kitchen, which is decked out with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances. A breakfast bar leads the eye into the dining area, which, though narrow, impressively accommodates seating for ten.
This is what a kitchen is (primarily) all about: Cooking. Any large, impressive kitchen with all the utensils, counter space, ventilation and appliances which would be fit for a chef is impressive, and when designed and implemented right, can be the centerpiece of the entire house.
A modern fireplace completes the social zone, where the inhabitants can enjoy quality relaxation time after having a harmonious family meal. A family of six relocated from California to Virginia and purchased a large home, but knew the kitchen area needed a total transformation.
In designing this 4,700-square-foot home, designer Leah Margolis from, also from Saratoga Springs, New York, worked with the homeowners to achieve a joint vision of a cohesive space. Margolis introduced the owners to mid-century modern design beginning with an original Saarinen Tulip Table. The table started the ball rolling and they fully embraced it.
